NOTD: Dotted Hearts With a Side of Glitter

Hi guys!

Just a quick NOTD post, I pimped up my mani from yesterday's swatch fest into a non-pink valentine's day mani idea. Colorful and sweet!

My base is Picture Polish Sky, and the dotted hearts are also using 7 different Picture Polish shades, can you guess what they are? ;) The neon glitter is Rainbow Honey Magic Cake. I finished the mani with my favorite top coat, HK Girl from Glisten & Glow.

What do you think? I really like this mani! :)

Swatches & Review: Rainbow Honey ~ Valentine, Favorite, & Upcoming

 Hi guys!!

Today I have a full post of glittery goodness for all you glitter lover! I received 5 polishes from Rainbow Honey to review and share with my readers. So sit back, scroll, and enjoy! ;)

The first two I have are the Sweet Talk Collection, and they are making a come back on Rainbow Honey website along with 3 new shades in The Sweet Talk Collection part II
Sweet Talk, the namesake polish of the collection, is a milky crelly base with pink shimmer and 2 sizes of purple, pink, and pastel blue hexes. I used 3 coats for the swatch with 1 coat of HK Girl top coat (an extra coat is needed for a complete smooth surface). Application was relatively easy, just be careful not to have too much polish on the brush like I did on my middle finger.

XOXO, a mixed of red glitter, with tiny gold and silver flakes in a clear base. I wore this with OPI You're Such a Budapest as the base color. You can get a decent amount of glitter coverage in one coat, but I used an extra thin coat for more sparkles. 1 coat of top coat is enough to smooth this out.

The next two I'm showing you are part of The Summer of 199X Collection. According to Rainbow Honey these are their top glitters in 2013. I can easily see why.
The Kraken, a marine blue jelly, filled with blue and gold holographic hexes in 3 different sizes, and shimmer that gives an extra depth to the layered finish look. This is simply amazing! Depends on how thick your coats are, you can either use 2 medium coats or 3 thin coats for full opacity. This will need 2 coats of a good top coat to smooth out the surface.

Magic Cake, a clear based glitter topper with some tiny silver flecks and filled with neon pink, blue, and green hexes & squares glitters. A really fun mixed of colors with so many layering option! I wear this over a light blue creme (Picture Polish Sky), I can't wait to try this again over black. I applied this by pressing down the brush to transfer the glitter onto the nail, and just dab a little to fill in some spots. Easy and quick! I get so much glitter on the brush, I didn't need to re-dip the brush for more glitter on each nail. 2 coats of top coat recommended.

The last one I have here is part of the upcoming Midnight Garden Spring collection, that will be released sometime in mid March 2014.
Papillon, is as cute as the name (papillon is french for butterfly). It is a clear based glitter topper with a fine holo sparkles, pastel holographic butterfly and 2 sizes of hexes in pastel pink and purple. I wore this over Lime Crime Milky Ways. The butterfly glitters are easy to get for me, no fishing required.

NOTD: NailNation 3000 Trinity

Good morning!

I've been sitting here for 15 minutes with nothing to write, but a beautiful polish to show you. It's one of those days when my brain just refuse to work and telling me to go back to sleep, but I must resist!
Anyway.. a friend sent me this RAOK (Random Act of Kindness) polish. I mentioned that I liked this from the pic I saw. So I was thrilled (and confused at first) when I found this in my mail, and I couldn't wait to try it on.

Trinity is a pearly turquoise linear holo, reminds me of OPI Blue Moon Lagoon but with better formula. Although I do need to see them side by side to make sure if I remember the color right in my head. Trinity has a great formula, applies really easy I didn't even need to clean up after, and fully opaque in 2 coats. I used HK Girl top coat here.

All my photos were taken in a light box with artificial light. I bet this will look amazing in the sun!

Trinity is listed as a limited edition shade, but it's currently still available. You can find it here. If you're outside of US, try and look for it at her international stockist, listed here.

Heart-Moon Mani (And a Step-by-Step Pictorial)

Hi guys!

So, I just got 5 of OPI Gwen Stefani collection today, I'm missing 2 more and I wanted to have them all. That's why I'm not posting swatches yet. Instead, I did a simple mani with 2 of them. This can also be a v-day mani idea, if you're not into all red and pink nails. I call it a heart-moon mani, because well, it's just a modified half-moon mani. And I'm not very creative with names :p

I used 4 in the Morning and Hey Baby for this mani. Tools I used are a medium size liner brush, a smaller liner or detail brush, and 2 sizes or dotting tools.
Since the base color I use here is a satin finish, I didn't top coat it. So you will see some imperfection in there. You can just change and use a regular creme polish so you can top coat it if you want.

I made a step-by-step pictorial for this mani. Hope it would help if you're interested in recreating this.

Paint your nail with the base color of your preference. Here I'm using 2 coats of OPI 4 in the Morning

With a medium liner brush, paint a half moon shape near your cuticle. Don't worry about getting a crisp edge of your half moon. I'm using OPI Hey Baby here.

Using the bigger size of your dotting tool, place 2 dots in the middle edge of your half moon.

Now using a smaller size dotting tool, place 2 more dots on each side of the big dots.
I also fixed the uneven part using the dotting tool, just dab gently to get more coverage. I know it looks messy here, but I promise it won't look this bad when you finished :)

Using a detail brush or a small liner brush and the base color (OPI 4 in the Morning), draw a heart outline shape in the middle.

Do the same with the two hearts on each side, and you're done! :)

So, what do you think? Would you wear this mani?

Jindie Nails Holiday & Winter 2013 (The Glitter)

Hi guys,

On the previous post I showed you two holographic polishes from Jindie Nails Holiday & Winter 2013. Now I have three of the glitter polishes from the same collection. These polishes will be restocked on Monday January 27, 2014 at 1PM CST. So look out for your favorite that you missed on the last restock. You can find Jindie Nails on facebook for more restock info, and check out more polishes from this collection here.

All the swatches here are using Glisten & Glow Stuck On Blue base Coat and 2 coats of HK Girl top coat.

Footprints in the Snow a baby blue crelly with bright blue micro shimmer/flakes, baby blue matte small hex, maroon matte dots and metallic small hex, classic gold medium dots and small hex. While I really love the finish look of this one (I love baby blue!), I find the application is not as easy as all the Jindie I've tried. The formula is on a thick side, and getting the dots glitter required some work. But I admit I didn't put the bottle upside down or roll them before using it. I was spoiled by how easy it is to apply Jindie glitters. I used 3 coats here, and no visible nail lines showing in person.

Noel Remixa limited edition holiday glitter topper loaded with same size small matte hex in 4 shades of green including neon, dark, kelly and pastel green. It also has same size red and white hex and green/red color shifting shimmer. This is a glitter topper that can also be worn on its own, because the glitter is so dense. My swatches here is 2 coats of Noel Remix, without undies. No issues at all.

Eve, a navy blue jelly with several sizes of silver holo dots and hex plus silver holo snow flakes. You can layer this polish over a dark base, but I prefer to wear it on its own. It takes 2-3 coats for opacity, depends on how thin/thick your coat is. I like how the glitter look in this squishy jelly base. The snowflakes requires fishing, but it's not too difficult to get. I just tilt my bottle in about 45 degree angle and swirl the brush inside the bottle. I used 3 coats of Eve, without undies.

Jindie Nails Holiday & Winter 2013 (The Holos)

Hi guys!

Today I have two new holographic polish to show you! They are part of Jindie Nail's Holiday & Winter 2013 collection. I know Jen is brilliant when it comes to her crelly glitter, and I'm so curious to try her holo. They did not disappoint! :) Both of the polishes I'm showing you here has a jelly like formula. Squishy, easy to work with, and dry shiny.

O Holo Night is described as a blackened navy/blue linear holographic with violet/blue shimmer. I used 3 coats and 1 coat of HK Girl top coat.

You Can't Turn a Ho-lo into a Housewife (the name!! Lol!), this  one is described as a gorgeous multi-chrome and linear holographic polish.   The colors in this one include red to blue and all shades in between. This one is SO much more gorgeous in person! While the holo is not a strong linear (line up and form a rainbow like sparkle), it's still a strong holo, I find it unique. It's hard to see the base color under all that holo, but I see a purple tone underneath, and it shifts to a blurple and red-ish copper in some lightning. Too bad I can't capture them all in photos. For swatches here, I used 2 coats and 1 coat of HK Girl top coat.
